Is There Hope Yet To Kill Cap and Trade?

Published by Frosty the Know Man at 8:57 am under The Economic Debate

Despite a great effort, a largely-Democratic effort squeaked through a successful vote on economy-crashing global warming language Friday. IBD has reason for hope, though, arguing the picture is much rosier in the Senate:

Sen. James Inhofe of Oklahoma is confident that Waxman-Markey will die in the Senate, and House GOP Leader John Boehner of Ohio sees an unfortunate precedent for the Democrats in this bill.

Early in the Clinton administration, the House passed by an almost identical 219-213 vote the infamous Btu tax — a levy on each unit of energy consumed. The tax would have been assessed on the energy content of all fossil fuels as measured in Btu, or British thermal units. It died in the Senate and was used as a campaign issue as the GOP regained control of the House for the first time in 40 years.

Far from being morose, the GOP mood after Friday’s vote was almost giddy. “On the floor, it felt like we won,” said Rep. Tom Cole of Oklahoma. After the final gavel fell, Republicans were chanting, “Btu, Btu.”

“A lot of Democrat members got burned on that vote,” Boehner said. Something tells us they, and eight Republicans, may get burned on this one too.

Lies, manipulation, intimidation and bribes were used to force the House to pass Obama’s economy killing bill! House members were not given time even to read the bill! Obama and his accomplices thus trampled on our human right to be represented and defended by our Legislative body.

Obama’s Cap and trade is another giant step towards Marxism — and the corruption, poverty, enslavement, destruction and despair that Marxism entails.

Obama is working much faster than Hugo Chavez at destroying the economy and imposing Marxism. No wonder the Russians are gloating:

From Pravda: “…the American descent into Marxism is happening with breath taking speed, against the back drop of a passive, hapless sheeple, excuse me dear reader, I meant people…” http://english.pravda.ru/opinion/columnists/107459-american_capitalism-0

We must do whatever is necessary to defend ourselves and our children from from Obama and his accomplices.

Let’s not underestimate them. They’re capable of anything to get this bill through – this is their moment of opportunity for total control over the economy! Inhofe might not be influential enough to stop them.
