Energy and Environment: Around the Interwebs (The Poznan Party Edition)
- UN climate change meeting in Poznan, Poland will examine 82 pages of proposals as the UN’s climate czar worries that we must not let reality — ie, the current economic crisis — get in the way of his agenda … wanna bet how many are good for the economy? …
- … Meanwhile, “Obama buzz felt at global climate talks” …
- … and, of course, “Protestors aim to disrupt climate change conference” …
- … all of which leads to a question of where we’re putting our priorities, as we focus on climate change but ignore the poor: “International bodies on Saturday urged concerted action to help developing nations confront the global economic crisis, but the absence of major leaders at a UN aid conference dampened hopes of concrete initiatives.” …
- … and it wouldn’t be a UN party without a scare to get everyone ginned up: “Earth’s climate appears to be changing more quickly and deeply than a benchmark UN report for policymakers predicted, top scientists said ahead of international climate talks starting Monday in Poland”
- Elsewhere in Europe, a UK study says the country’s energy “infrastructure is already set to meet the challenges climate change might pose”
- Be sure to read: “The fool’s gold of carbon trading”
- In America: A Senator tries to kill coal-fired plants in his state (after all, he whines uconvincingly, it’s making us sick)
- “Sometimes Even a Blind Pig Will Find Global Warming”
- Catching NASA with its pants down
